Whether it be a production unit for oil, gas, offshore LNG facility (both liquefaction or regassing), given the right water depth, a jackup provides many advantages over a fixed platform for such applications:
Reduced CAPEX compared to conventional platform concept
Topside Commissioning can be done during Conversion
Reduced Installation Cost as Jack-up’s can “Self-Install”
Minimal Cost for Decommissioning. Lower balance sheet impact.
Jack ups can be jacked down and easily moved to a better location for the production unit in case of wells coming in higher or lower than expected
Reduction of Field Development CO2 emissions compared to new build platform
